Puccini is a cozy, warm trattoria-style room with that rarity among local Italian restaurants-a proper, wood-fired oven. Murano chandeliers add a nice touch to the restaurant.

The menu is quite extensive-besides the lengthy àla carte menu, a seasonal menu specialising in seafood is available. Most diners will go to the pizza and pasta sections first, as well they should. Thanks to the wood-fired oven, any pizza you choose will have that unmistakable Italian tangy flavour not found in pizzas that come from a regular oven.The pasta speciality is the spaghetti with black truffle and Parma ham, and it is heavenly. If in the mood for antipasti, try another house speciality-gnocco fritto with Parma ham.

For the main course, the branzino al cartocio or the sogliola con vino blanco are good choices for fish lovers; for the carnivores, the volcano-grilled usda prime grade rib eye is a standout. The zuppa Inglese or cappuccino tiramisu alla Kahlua are perfect endings to a great meal. The wine list is small and heavy on the Italian side. Only one each of the red and whites is available by the glass. Very affordable.
